Imac Laptop Price

AppleInsider is breaking down your list of options to find the best MacBook for students, whether you're a college student heading off to campus this August or the parent of a child in elementary school needing a budget-friendly Apple computer for remote learning. From the longest battery life to the lowest Apple prices on machines that offer best-in-class performance, we've got you covered.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro or M1 Max processor is at the top of its class in terms of power and efficiency. While this laptop comes at a high price, it will serve any prospective student for years to come thanks to its premium design and years of guaranteed software updates.

There are two Thunderbolt 3 ports on the side, which means you can charge your device and connect an external drive or peripheral at the same time. The M1 processor limits this laptop to connecting to a single external display up to 6K.

The small size means it fits easily into most backpacks and laptop bags, but the 3024-by-1964 native resolution allows for ample working space. This makes it ideal for writing papers or working in your college's course management system, and the gorgeous Liquid Retina XDR display is ideal for streaming your favorite Apple TV+ shows.

The M1 Pro and M1 Max are both powerful processor options that will outperform most laptops in the same price range. If price is a factor, however, the M1 in the 13-inch MacBook Pro is still top-of-the-line for most types of student work.

The 10.2-inch iPad has a retina display and lacks some of the more pro-level features to drive the price down. It supports the first-generation Apple Pencil and Apple's Smart Keyboard. The current iPad has an A10 Fusion chip that is still supported by iPadOS and can easily run modern applications.

The iPad mini is essentially the iPad Air crammed into a 7.9-inch display. There is no Smart Keyboard, but the first-generation Apple Pencil is compatible. The $399 price gets you 64GB, and upgrade to 256GB for $549. The A12 Bionic is used in this model and excels in the smaller display.

iBook is a line of laptop computers designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple Computer from 1999 to 2006. The line targeted entry-level, consumer and education markets, with lower specifications and prices than the PowerBook, Apple's higher-end line of laptop computers. It was the first mass consumer product to offer Wi-Fi network connectivity, which was then branded by Apple as AirPort.[1][2]

Apple added a PowerPC G4 chip to the iBook line on October 23, 2003, finally ending Apple's use of the PowerPC G3 chip. A slot-loading optical drive replaced the disc tray. The iBook G4 notebook also features an opaque white case finish and keyboard and a plastic display hinge. This is also the last iBook laptop released before MacBooks replaced the iBook line in 2006.

Founded in 1976, Apple is one of the world's largest manufacturers of consumer electronics, with instantly recognizable products like the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and MacBook. Apple has a small laptop lineup compared to other brands like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and ASUS, as they only make premium productivity-focused laptops. However, MacBooks are consistently among the most well-built and premium laptops you can find. Since Apple started making laptops with their in-house SoC, the M1, MacBooks are among the best for performance and battery life.

The best Apple laptop we've tested is the Apple MacBook Pro 14 (2021), the smaller of the two 'Pro' laptops with Apple's new design and an M1 Pro or M1 Max SoC. It sports a sharp Mini LED display that produces deep blacks, gets incredibly bright, and covers the entire DCI P3 color space, making it suitable for viewing and producing HDR content. Its factory calibration is superb, so you likely won't need to calibrate before doing any color work, and it supports ProMotion, meaning it can dynamically adjust the refresh rate up to 120Hz to make motion smoother or lower it to extend battery life.

If you're a little put off by the Apple MacBook Air 13 (2022)'s price, there's good news: you can still buy the older Apple MacBook Air 13 (M1, 2020). Its base price is lower, and it's often on sale, especially around Black Friday. To be clear, although this is our budget pick, it's only considered 'budget' in Apple's laptop lineup because it's the most affordable. There's nothing budget about this laptop. It feels just as premium as the picks above, so you're still getting an exceptionally well-built device that provides a great user experience. Compared to the newer M2 MacBook Air, most of the tradeoffs are pretty minor, like the design, webcam, and SoC, so unless there's a feature that you want on the newer model, this is a great alternative that'll save you a good chunk of cash.

Dell and Apple are very different in their approach to laptops, as Dell makes a significantly larger number of models for various uses and price segments, whereas Apple only makes premium productivity laptops. Dell's high-end productivity laptops are often compared to Apple laptops in build quality and user experience, but unlike Apple, which uses their in-house ARM-based SoC, Dell still uses x86 chips from Intel in their laptops.

Microsoft and Apple are very similar in some ways but also very different. Both companies only make productivity laptops and are in control of the hardware and software, as they also created the operating system. However, Microsoft tends to have more budget models and experiments with other form factors like 2-in-1 tablets, while Apple only makes clamshell laptops with no touch input. Both companies are among the best when it comes to build quality.

Apple is one of the best laptop makers in the world. MacBooks usually feel premium and exceptionally well-built, and they have among the best performance and battery life. As Apple also makes the operating system, MacBooks also have a level of integration with other Apple products that's hard to find on devices from other manufacturers. However, MacBooks are generally expensive and aren't as ideal for gaming.

If you're looking for a productivity laptop, Apple MacBooks are among the best available options, whether you're already in the Apple ecosystem or not. They feel incredibly well-built, have long battery life, and provide a premium user experience. However, if you want more versatility, like a 2-in-1 convertible or a laptop with wider game compatibility, you're better off with a Chromebook or a Windows device.
